I am ecstatic to post a pic from the set of The Great Gatsby being shot (on Red Epics, as you know) here in Sydney at Fox Studios. I waited until about 2 am in the morning to drive to 'this location' (which is actually located across the road from Fox Studios). They have built a very GRAND ENTRANCE GATE set, that opens to a very long, leafy driveway that is towered by large trees for it's entire length, it looked absolutely amazing. Clever too, as the drive way is actually the perimeter of a large field located near the entrance of Centennial Park. Any other time of year you will only see bike riders, joggers and the odd sports people making there way around this drive way, so I can only imagine how it will be portrayed and made to look in the movie.
This facade looks amazing to stand in front of and rather mind blowing when you stand to the side to see the pine wood structures holding up the fences, and the trees behind the fences are merely portable trees (ofcourse).
It was a little awkward when my wife and I stopped the car at 2am and a security guard swamped us instantly, (I can tell you there was no budget left when it came to this security guard, who looked like a homeless drunk and drove a 1970's beaten lemon... LDC must be charging double for this movie), but after some sweet talking he let us make our way over when I told him I was an aspiring film maker myself.
I love movie magic!!! Can't wait to see set in the movie, go RED! :)
