Has anyone noticed a "jitter" or unstable playback in Resolve with 5k footage? I've got a 460 for GUI, 4000 for GPU, and Red Rocket for debayer. It definitely has something to do with the Rocket, because I can add plenty of nodes and the problem persists. Playback fps constantly ramp between 20 and 24 fps without ever leveling off as usual. It is really annoying.

Yea, that's where I'm at. Even at Quarter Good it persists between 22 and 24 fps.

What monitor are you using to color-correct the 5K footage? I'm not convinced it makes sense right now to use full rez in the color-correction stage; to me, it makes more sense to instead use HD projection or HD monitors at HD resolution. After everything's locked and approved, I can see replacing all the proxies with the full-rez material for final output.

Eventually, I think the processors and servers will allow full-rez processing 100% of the time, but I don't think that's practical or affordable for most people right now.

To play back 5K Epic footage with Red Rocket, you need 2 Red Rocket cards. With a single card, playback is typically between 22-24fps.

If you take out the Red Rocket, or disable it from Resolve, you should be able to use quarter-res assuming you have a fast enough CPU to decode at 24fps.

To disable the Red Rocket, add the following line to Preferences/Debug, and restart the software:

Red.Rocket.Enable = 0
