Anyone using one of these sensor scopes on their DSLR?
Good solution for checking the RED sensor on set/in the field?

Thank you for the tip, seems like a great solution. Have you used one?

I haven't used one yet - in fact the company is so overwhelmed with orders there's a 2 week wait at present.
I'm old school - used to swinging the matte box, pulling the lens and breaking out the penlight for an "eyeball" inspection of the film gate. I think this may be an invaluable tool?

Haha, I hear ya about being oldschool, but the penlight and eyeball has saved me from many possible "major pucker" moments once the footage comes back from processing. Better to find the problem, forgive and forget at that moment while you can still get the shot than be the goat a day or so later. Your find does seem like an invaluable tool in the field, thank you again Kenneth.

Hmmm...
I like the before and after photo. If your sensor is that dirty, I doubt you'd need the scope. Hehe.
I'm curious, but I'm skeptical... Is this really better than the lighted magnifying lamp I already use for work on small components? It supposedly works with all DSLRs, but how would it mate up with a RED One and the PL mount? I suppose it just sits over the lens mount opening. Hmm.

It looks like a blacklight and a magnifying glass... why does it cost $190

Remember when biters first came out for Mini-Maglites? Handiest thing ever. Now if they just weren't ass-flavored...

Agreed. There's a whole 3rd-party industry preying on ill-informed amateur photographers. The $5 illuminated magnifying glass I keep in my A/C kit does the exact same job.

Can you use anhydrous ethyl alcohol (100%) to clean the CMOS sensors?

What swipes are you using, to clean it wet?

I just use a brush. No chemicals, just a really clean brush. Works great.

Presumably a brush designed for cleaning optics. I keep one in my AC kit.

Special one. Way too expensive, but I was travelling and needed it :-)

Most camera stores that sell DSLR cams also stock cleaning brushes.

True, but you gotta' admit the battery powered vacuum cleaner included in the kit is pretty slick.
BTW - I used gaffer tape on the end of my pen light - how'd you know the flavor was a**?

I ass-umed that since I spend a lot of time with it in my hip pocket the foul taste of the biter was...uh...an infusion of sorts. ;-)
Handiest thing ever, though. I was hooking up a Firewire drive this morning and had it in my mouth while I crawled around on the floor inserting Tab A in Slot B. Until someone can install a halogen bulb in the end of my nose that's gonna continue to be my favorite oral fixation.
