Due to popular demand, we have decided to open up reservations for 3 days. Kind of a "last chance" opportunity. Jan. 21- Jan. 24th. The next time orders will be taken will be at NAB. Mark your calendars.

I hope so, Andrew (BTW, Happy New Year 2007 too my good friend!) -- your wallet will appreciate considering the same prices than ours. And people like you deserve this consideration.
Nice move Jim! We know we are in good hands: you're a terrific leader. All what we need for the RED success. To be RED customer is to have more warranty than to be with any major ones (Sony, Pana, etc.) -- with you we know we are with the passion, not only to expect a business schedule...
E. (Jim's fanboy :))

There will be NO titanium "R's" for these reservations.

With the exception of the R, I'm assuming the rest of the reservation specifics are the same as the earlier reservations?
Thanks so much for doing this. I still won't be a reservation holder... still broke ... but it's going to be a great thing for a lot of people.

Hello,
What, no titanium R? Heck, I still have not been given my res. number! I was charged by Red last fall though. I have the visa statement, but thats all. Not even an email, fax or call for confirmation.
I just assumed they were swamped with getting the camera together.
Happy New Year!

Hi Jim/everyone,
I have a couple of questions - (and I did conduct a forum search) but couldn't find any thread that answered the following questions:
The fee for the reservation?
Expected delivery time of the new reserved cameras?
Will the units be body only or is there an onboard monitor/eyepiece?
Can we reserve the 18-85mm lens in this new reservation period?
When do the flash units ship? Do they require a reservation? Is there any means of recording in the meantime?
Many thanks
James

Will people who reserve this time be garunteed $17,500 for the camera body?
Rob Lohman
01-02-2007, 08:07 AM
Greg: I would contact the RED office to confirm all this. Kelly should also read the boards, but to make sure you are taken care off contact the office.
jtm: I assume the reservation for the camera will be $1000, the zoom lens $1000 as well and $500 for the 300mm prime lens
18-85 (zoom lens) should be available for reservation indeed
Storage options will be available when the camera ships, I don't know which ones for how much.
I'll let Jim answer the other questions

 I wonder what the response to this opportunity will be north of the border (Canada)?
I don't know wether to celebrate or cry. An initial period of RED exclusivity for current reservation holders in a given market could be financially beneficial. ;)
Back to work, gotta scratch that loot together to pay for the Lens rez.

Andrew Benz
01-02-2007, 05:39 PM
Well, Jim said after the first group of reservations, but before the NAB 2007 group (lol, sorry hate to be cryptic but...). Also, there might be an incentive to do it this Jan. as opposed to waiting for NAB. Though I could be wrong on that last part. I am guessing if all is perfect... fall 2007 depending on a thousand variables.

I'm seriously tempted to get a Red Zoom, but I know I would need a lens before the zoom is ready. Any updates on the release date of the zoom lens? Are you designing this in-house or OEM-ing it from an existing lens manufacturer?

Hi Red people: If I have already ordered up a 300mm lens, can I shift the same reservation payment to apply it a 18-85mm zoom instead, during the open reservation period?

I am going to take 300 with the camera so if RED will not take it back from you and I will get mine, I can take it from you.
How are you going to check your camera once you get it then?

My experience was a breeze. There was a link to the Reservation Form (.pdf) on the website. Download, fill out with all the particulars, including credit card number (if not by cc, they had alternate instructions for payment). You could either fax it in (heard that faxing was the quicker way to go) or digitize your form and email it in. Account was debited within a couple of days. Several days later than that, I got an email from Kelly with another .pdf of my Reservation Agreement (no surprises, just standard contract stating that you could get your $ back at any time, etc.), signed it, faxed it in. Done. It took a little while to get the R, I suppose they'll just send another confirmatory email this time around.
