If you have an F-23 lying around, there's a good home waiting over here.......

Just curious if you knew that the Sony F-23 goes for around 250,000 US. DOLLARS (including the hd-cam deck). Equivalent to about ten nicely configured RED CAMERAS. Rich or not, I can't imagine anyone (other than a rental house) who would be crazy enough to buy an F-23 right now.

i just don't like to rent and red is going to take a long time to come so if i order some red cam now i will be receiving it when. I have to do some last rewrites for my screenplay and start shooting for theatrical release

RED cameras periodically go up for sale here. even if you pay a premium for it, you'll still save hugely over the F-23. there is the price, which doesn't seem to matter all that much, and then there is the opportunity cost, and only you can know possibly what that is worth to you.
get the RED and, with the money you save, buy a pile of really kicking lenses. that would be my advice. there's no substitute for really good glass.

Why is this in the footage section? If you're not sure what to buy, then buy a technocrane.

I get the feeling you don't seem to grasp the costs of the 3 formats you just mentioned.

You have to do a lot of reading to make the right decision on this.
Most of the guys here will tell you that RED One is the best thing around. And they're right :), but it's best to figure that out yourself.
If you want to make the best choice and save some money - keep yourself informed.
Read here and on the other big cine-forums, ask, discuss, meditate.
You can find all the necessary information on the Net. Actually information is a very valuable thing.
Keep yourself informed and don't jump before testing the ground.
BTW, if your script sucks, it won't matter, even if your shooting on 70mm.
Good luck!
