I'm not sure whether I should have posted this here or on Red One, so here it goes again:
Please current owners,
Excuse me if I should have posted this on Off Topic or Field Tests, but I feel this is a very important matter. If there's anyone of you out there with a RED at hand and you're about to load build 12, including of course the famous Black Shading Calibration, stop and shoot something under repeatable conditions before you do the upgrade. Then, once you've done the upgrade, come back and shoot the same scene again on build 12. Take both into Redcine, Redalert, whatever and post a couple of JPEGS or TIFFS of your test, one with and one without the Black Shading Calibration and let's find out if there are any appreciable differences on such rough comparison. I am baffled to say the least as to what this tool really is, especially after Jim's assesment that you "won't get great images without it" so please, it is worth the bother. Enlighten us!
