Tonaci was anxious to get some pixels burnt on #102 and I happen to have Blair's #19 here with Build 11 on it so here goes...
Sensor protect...

...Is much better!
Side by side build 11 Vs. build 12...
http://www.redninjas.net/B11B12.jpg
Same iris (T2.5) same lens (Zeiss 25mm T1.3) same exposure (ISO 500), WB and tint in Red Alert! (3200, 0)
My initial impression is that the color on build 12 is subtly more accurate and pleasing (read warmer).
Both cameras build 12...
http://www.redninjas.net/b12.jpg
Again, identical settings in Red Alert! It seems to me that #102 is resolving slightly better than #19 on the eye. I'd guess that's the new OLPF.
This was not a torture test of DR or noise but from jim's post in Recon I'd guess we won't see any difference till we can go to "11".
I'm uploading DPX files for your perusal. Give me a 1/2 our or so and I'll post links.

Great test Evin. Thanks.
Results are pretty dramatic on sensor protect. Blacks look cleaner and deeper without the blue cast in 19. Somehow not as "milky" on 102. Resolution improved.

The shot of the eye speaks to a huge difference!
Hey are you sure that is the same lens!?!
My goodness, 102 is far sharper.

Yes it was exactly the same lens (Swapped between the two bodies) but there is a possibility of a slight difference in focus point. I used the Red LCDs with the 2x zoom in for focus but I'd in no way call this conclusive, just encouraging.

I was most interested in #19 with the light flare on build 11 vs. 12 a great improvement on the same camera. The #102 wow impressive again with the same shot.

While there is a difference between Build 11 and Build 12 (better image with no streaking), the biggest difference will come with the new cameras. And then there is a bonus in a couple of weeks with Build 14 and the new cameras.

After peering at the DPX images, I have decided that there was a slight shift in the focal plane accounting for some of the apparent difference in resolution between the crops on the eye.
Look at the crops below of the teeth and whiskers. #19 is a bit sharper in this example.

Don't "focus" in too much here. Could be a lens, movement or focus difference. Look at the highlight in the eyes and the streaking.

The warmer colors in the new OLPF certainly reduce the blue channel noise. But it's hard to tell if that's just because of the color balance applying less gain to the blue channel or if the DSP is balancing the colors internally a bit better.

I absolutely agree that the images presented here from 102 have a sweeter color rendition and overall sharpness.
And to think there is more to come.
It is the degree of apparent difference in sharpness that made me take a closer look, and I'm loving what I am seeing from 102.

The DPX from 102 looks great if you put a 300%, .6 , 0 unsharp mask on it.

I see what you mean, Jim. The highlight handling looks certainly more pleasing, more "photographic", if you want. There's less fringing, the roll off is better and the highlights are smaller. Would like to see the same with bigger light sources, like fluorescent tubes.

Sorry,
I was just particularly offended by some of his comments on another site. I'm up late. I should go to bed.

Expect more footage tomorrow.. I have three "for fun" projects I have lined up for the next few days and I will definitely be sharing the footage.
I will have some actioncam going on as well.
#102 and I need some rest. be back tomorrow.

This is what I suspected. There does seem to be a difference in highlight containment, much less spill on 102.

What the hell is Hoodia?
It's a South African cactus that tribesmen from the bush use to quell hunger and produce a sense of quietness. They can travel for hours without eating and without getting tired, while hunting. Don't worry... it's organic.

Thought it was Bear!
BTW, not sure how Hoodia / South Africa got into this thread. Coincidentally I worked on an infomercial for it for some very nice, honest people (who are also Red fans). They did some lab tests and found that a lot of the stuff being sold actually contained no Hoodia whatsoever! So be careful. That said, I have never tried it and whether or not it works, I definitely do not think that Bear needs it ;)
Back on topic, this is a really interesting test. Who would have thought that those sensor issues could be fixed by firmware like that?

Maybe it's been answered before, but I haven't come across it yet.
Anyway, what is 'streaking'?
Yes, I know it's also http://www.petiteanglaise.com/wordpress/wp-images/streaking.jpg but I don't think Jim is referring to that.
