I'm selling my MAXX Digital 8-drive EVO raids - just one posted on EBay right now. These are the earlier models- like the 'cineraid,' I think they were made by iStorage Pro (?) and have the Areca 1221 controller.

The full disclosure: I wasn't using them much, because we upgraded our Facilis Terrablock with bigger drives. After adding an expansion chassis to my Resolve mac, I re-installed one of these that had been sitting on the shelf for 6-12 months. A drive failed within about a month - replaced it, it rebuilt (raid 5), then, after a few weeks or so, the replacement (though not new) drive in the same slot failed. Consequently I've removed the system from service. Around the same time, I upgraded to OSX 7.1 (now 7.2) and upgraded the firmware and drivers on the Areca card. All of that is to say that, while I suspect the backplane may be failing, I don't really know - and, honestly I just don't use these enough to really care. Consequently, my laziness (or too-busy-ness) could be my loss and your gain... (but my spidey sense says maybe there's a real problem.) Consequently, very low starting price on ebay. If I get enough for this unit I'll sell the second one.

I am in no way disparaging MAXX- I love those guys, and this product worked well for the first chapter of its life. I'd it's time for someone else to use it.
