Hi guys,

Just investigating into this workflow and would like a bit of advice; specifically using RMDs throughout the stages of editing, colouring and finishing.

The theoretical workflow I have in my head is the following:

1. Load into RCXP and adjust adjust the basic settings, like ISO, white balance, FLUT etc.
2. Move into Premiere and edit the piece
3. Export EDL and move into Resolve
4. Grade and export

My question is will the changes I make initially in RCPX travel through the pipeline into Resolve via RMDs?

I've been playing around and certainly Premiere keeps up the RMD file and uses it, but I can't seem to make Resolve pick it up.

Anyone shed any light?

Can you take Premiere out of the equation first. Make changes in RCX and save the RMD file. Now just view this file in Resolve. Resolve reads the RMD file when you add the clip to the media pool. If you already have the clip in the media pool, it will not re-read the RMD file.

That's great. As long as Resolve reads the RMD as it's added to the media pool, every things cool.

Thanks!

Rohit,

Any trick to make Resolve to re-load a new RMD? Or, does a new project has to be created to read the updated RMD? Just curious, since this is something that I have been waiting for some time since the first $1K version.

It seems the RMD will only reload when the clips are re-loaded into the media pool. So, basically take the media off-line and then put it back in.

Question- does Resolve ever write to the RMD file?

Obviously RCXP write to it when you make changes, and Premiere will when you tell it to.

Resolve cannot write to RMD.

That's kind of what I have concluded from testing.
