I noticed part way down the DP Review article announcing Canon's release of the 1D Mark III camera, that Canon also announced today the release of a new EF 16-35mm f/2.8 zoom lens. If the new Canon lens has a manual iris ring, and/or some 3rd party developed an EF/RED adapter, and if RED does make a Canon mount, and if it turned out to be as good a lens as the Nikkor 17-35, then it could possibly be an option for use on RED One.
That's a lot of “and/ors”, “ifs” and “possiblys”, but who knows what the future will
bring...

Before anyone jumps all over this, I'm quite aware of the obstacles for this ever being a reality - plus it would have to be a real good lens to beat the Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8 zoom.
Just looking at all potential lens options...
