Hello everybody,

I doing a research / collecting opinions on different 23" full hd monitors:

Sony BVM-F250
Sony PVM 2541
HP Dreamcolor
EIZO CG232W

Any opinions / experiences?

Hi Martin.

If you can afford the BVM F 250 then by all means its the best without question. - tru black reproduction oled with 10 bit display and sdi inputs. Truly a masterpiece - But is 12,500 worth spending?
The PVM is another good option - 1/5th of the price and still good specs. Similar to the BVM

The dreamcolor seems somewhat outdated these days even though it is still widely used. true 10bit display and hdmi - Plug it with an hd-sdi to hdmi and ur good to go. some people complain of a specific color tinge but i'm sure it is fine once properly calibrated.
Might be a bit difficult to find, I'm not sure if its still in production or not but I'm sure some stores still have it in stock.

The eizo seems like a good option but is usually the choice for photographers.

Check out the top end FSI, If you were looking at the sony's its well within your budget. Many fellow redusers use it for final colorgrading and are usually happy with the results. many claim that it barely needs calibration.

Others might not agree with me but I'm sure many others do.

A lot of editing / color grading suites use - dell's for desktop viewing - The FSI as the most accurate desktop display on which all color grading is finally tweaked and some big Panasonic plasma for client viewing.

Hope this helps.

Martin, I recently got my Sony PVM-2541, and I love it. Well built, true blacks, easy to configure - really great value for the price.

Here's a link to a PVC article about it: http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/editingpost/story/the_crt_replacement_is_here.._finally/P0/

On a side note: it's a 25''...

Kirk, while I agree that the BVM is amazing, the PVM does OLED, true black and SDI as well - there's other goodies that make this one a beast. And expensive.

I think the Panasonic BT-300 (http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prModelDetail?storeId=11301&catalogId=13251&itemId=623007&modelNo=Content03242011041022139&surfModel=Content03242011041022139) series broadcast plasma monitors are a better buy -- $5000 for the 50" model. The Panasonics are what I see being used for HD mastering all over LA, either the older 11 series, the later 20 series, or now the 300 series. The jump up after that is to go to a 2K or 4K projector.

Well it would be pretty hard to put that on my DIT-cart... :) 23/25'' vs. 50'' - hmmmm...

Don't overlook the FSi LM-2461W it's a great monitor backed by great customer support. I haven't used either of the Sony's but from what I understand OLEDs still suffer from a certain amount of flicker that can be a deal breaker or not depending on who you talk to.
