Just out of curiosity. If editing in Premiere CS 5.5 it makes sense that the 580M is the way to go correct? In order to take advantage of the cuda cores. But when editing in Avid does anyone prefer the 6990m over the 580M?
Thanks!

Yes, GTX 580M supports CUDA, 6990M does not. I don't think Avid MC 6 is heavily GPU accelerated but Vegas Pro 11 (and several other OpenCL accelerated apps) definitely seem to favour AMD GPUs.

I thought Premiere was better suited with a Nvidia 580M? Just trying to clarify. Are you saying that other programs prefer the AMD?

Yes - Premiere Pro CS5.5 will work much better with GTX 580M as it exclusively uses CUDA. Thus the HD 6990M will be sitting mostly idle. It depends from program to program.

Ok ok. I understand. Thank you lol. So if one is only editing on premiere and or avid then it's better to go with the 580m.
