I'm pleased to announce the arrival of Little "Lengai" (After a volcano named in Tanzania named the mountain of god in Masai language) Scarlet #314.
She is beautiful all decked out in hand held mode. The Rig is a combination of new an old part. Shape handles, halo rig parts, and Genius base plate, shoulder and matte box. I still need to make some adjustments to the rig. Not pictured a sachtler 6 tripod (nice and light).

Took the kids to see planes land today and managed to catch the a380 come in. Massive. This is in Toronto, where when the wind is right they come right in over the street. It was freezing so did not play around much with settings etc. My fingers froze.

Hey Michael, that Scarlet looks like it wants to take off and shoot... how are you powering and balancing the camera? Curious to know what battery plate is going on the back of that shoulder mount...

OK, I decided to go for epic, so when my number came up, I jumped. So no scarlet images now for me.
A couple of quick tests.

Congrats Michael.
Curious to know how the weight of the camera feels off the shoulder?

The shoulder pad is part of the Genisus hand held rode package. I wanted the package for the baseplate and shoulder pad. I'm using carbon rods from the Easom halo package (the, and I love the shape design handle... If you have not seen them, check them out. They are solid, and you push a button to fold the handles. Very easy, fast and sturdy. The genus ones that came with package are cr*p.

Nice! looks front heavy though

it is front heavy, the rod system now is set up for tripod and telephotos etc. I just stuck the bits on for the photo. I'm waiting for the rest of the gear I need, and few extras like a EVF to really configure it and balance it for hand held work. I've got longer rods and back counter weight to stick on. I'll move the pad up too, but need an really need an EVF as it is difficult to see the LCD. I'm 98% of the time on a tripod anyway.

Bob's rig, it's the Genus full. I do like it because of it's size. With flags off it sturdy and be easily packed in check in a small story case. I bought the red matte box, but there is no way it's coming into the bush with me. It may look sexy, but it's not meant for run and gun.
Bob, HAL 9000? Makes sense. Must say I'm a fan Kubrick, I miss those hard edgy looks.

my trips lately have been falling through, so no Africa yet. However I did sell my scarlet because my epic came up so fast. So is the first still from Epic #2125 - Krakatoa (another volcano). One huge advantages is the various aspect ratios that are not available in scarlet.
Shot with a canon AL mount, Canon 24-70 f2.8 zoom.
