This is my wish list:
1. Scarlett should be very small, i.e. pocket sized.
2. It should record at least 1080p HD at various frame rates.
3. It should give you the option for how compressed the video will be - low compression for broadcast/film output, more compression for budgetary or record time considerations.
4. It should record to Compact Flash or internal HD.
5. It should be ready to shoot out of the box. Built-in lens (10X zoom), flip-out monitor, basic mics, on board battery.
6. The lens should go really wide.
7. It should use 16 mm chip.
8. Scarlett should offer choice of auto focus and manual focus.
9. It should have interchangeable lenses as factory option
10. It must have HDMI output.

Even more important than autofocus for run and gun, I'd suggest they add a filter wheel this time, with some ND filters !

While filter wheels can be done well it is a costly thing to do that way. The individual filters have to be exactly the same thickness or you will throw off your back focus (flange focale depth). And they need to be optically flat (plano) to a much more accurret degree then front filters. Also the mechanisim which holds and rotates the filters has to be very precise in it's design and fabrication. As I say it can be done well but it will cost. Overall I don't recommend it if one is trying to keep costs down.

Well, even cheaper cameras like HVX200, Z1, and every single other camera on the market has a filter wheel. So it seems possible and affordable enough...

I'm not saying it's easy, depending on the sensor size they will choose, but for such a camera it is a must.

Autofocus by way of an integrated Birger mount and feedback from the sensor... maybe. Built in ND filters... less likely or desirable.

I would prefer a full S35mm sized sensor and for that you would need some large internal components and filters to cover the sensor... this is easier to do with a sensor that is a tenth the size and I don't think it would go with the "pocket" size that Red is going for here.
