Sean: any specific metadata you are looking for?
Hi Rob - to be honest I would like as much metadata as can be included. It's a great help for all sorts of reasons especially when pulling stills from video and file names are changed. So if it's possible it would be great :)

Any way we can get the still store 1 2 and 3 capture keyboard shortcuts back and still store playback through the rocket like we have in the latest builds of the original redcine-x ? I miss having them mapped to my euphonics panel and if you ate viewing on a reference monitor the still store doesn't do a lot of good if it doesn't play back there.

Rob,
Are you considering support for the new FCPX XML format in a future build?
It would be nice to send an XML from FCPX, render out prores 4444 and send back to FCPX.
This would be a good workaround until there is an r3d native solution.

We are indeed considering adding FCP X xml support. Just need to see how it works and schedule it with the other priorities.
It looks like there might be some issues with audio levels & keyframe round-tripping:

Anyone know if this sort of stuff has been fixed since then?

I got a request for Metadata to be embedded in a TIFF that we create in RCX Pro for use in Photoshop or lightroom..Can we get this?
There actually already is an RCX feature to embed metadata in TIFF files: snapshots will embed XMP metadata by default (this includes the "Send to PS" option in the Stills panel), while it must be turned on in custom export presets.
Note that XMP metadata can be read by Photoshop, Lightroom, and other Adobe products like Bridge.
To turn it on in export presets, hit Setup... in the Export Settings dialog, making sure TIFF is the current format, and select "Include XMP".
The embedded XMP includes some basic metadata like timecode, aperture, the path to the source R3D, and some other user editable ones such as the rating and label of the clip/still.

I don't see where to find aperture in the meta of a tiff.
Note that the aperture metadata needs to be present in the R3D itself before it can be embedded in the TIFF.
Ditto for the other metadata such as F-stop, etc.
Check first if the clip has the aperture metadata by right-clicking on the clip in REDCINE-X, choosing Metadata... and searching for aperture.
It may be that the clip you're testing with does not have aperture as metadata.
If the clip does have that metadata, you should be able to see it in Photoshop in the File/File Info... dialog under Camera Data.

BUG (Mac version)
Preview button is not working with "Meta" and Apply button with "Meta" crashes RCX
Thanks, Laco. For now, you can work around this bug by using the M/D buttons on the Viewer as a substitute for Preview Meta,
and the M and D buttons on the Look Manager panel as a substitute for Apply Meta.
This will be fixed in the next build.

This hasn't fixed the bug I've found where RCX-P (Win64) is hanging on startup. When I double click the icon to start it the application hangs before the GUI is launched. If I double click it again I get the "Red Rocket is in use by an another application" error and THEN the interface launches.
Win7/64
RR Driver 1.4.7.0 Firmware 1.1.14.38
Nvidia GTX 480
Same problem with Beta 9. Beta 8 reinstalls and still works though.
Do you need a log file sent in? Any suggestions?

Nope right now the FCPxml is still pretty basic and wasn't updated... cuts, fades, compound clips, speed effects are there but nothing regarding audio levels, effects, position, scale or any animated properties gets carried over
Hopefully they will start adding stuff in the next release due "in early 2012".
I considered also writing an FCPX - REDCINE-X roundtrip app using FCPxml but what currently limited things for me is the inability to send a multi track project into RCX pro using .lua
Any chance this might be coming soon ?
David Ibbitson

It's easier for me to add support for FCPX XML than to update the Lua at this point :) But regardless both things are on the list to be tackled in due time.

has this version a limited use of alchemy?
when will be there a redlog2rec709 lut for davinci, avidmc, fcp7?
(i know you dont like it, but like log C has workflow papers, plugins etc so their log C looks nice in the named softwares)
will there be gpu debayering anytime soon? ( i have the rocket, so its not for me, its for all the dozen clients i have who shoot with several cams including the epic, who dont want to wait 60 hours for a 4 hour footage transcode -note :90% of my clients use avid, 7% fcp7,2 % premiere and 1% fcpx)
it doesnt make sense for them to buy a rocket.-edit: at that price...for 1000 who knows
and scaling UI is a little bit of a hassle :)

Is there anyway you can add the function to REDCine that in the ETA section when rendering (exporting) it gives the real time it took once the render is complete? So the ETA is cool when rendering but when finished it gives the actual time taken for the render

I have a REDlogFilm to REDgamma/REDgamma2 plugin available for FCP7 at www.antlerpost.com/plugins (http://www.antlerpost.com/plugins) if that's what you're after. It is also available as a LUT for Apple Color. Other versions coming soon.

On the store page there are separate PayPal "Buy Now" buttons for the plugin, the Color LUTs and a pack of both.

I already have a preliminary Resolve LUT, but want to do further testing before I put it on the store. Like the Alexa plugin, my RLF2RG plugin comes with a user guide with workflow information. I am also writing an article at the moment about log workflows in general. An Avid plugin is more complicated, as there is not an Avid equivalent of FCP FXScript. I have experimented with using a custom curve grade as a LUT in Media Composer, which does work.

RCX Pro 10 is slower as the previous version on my computers...

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the still store doesn't work properly (on 9 or 10). When you hold the number of the still it stores the image of the frame. Then, you can play the clip in the viewer or adjust the grade. Clicking the number to recall the still toggles the still store function and recalls the image but clicking again does not toggle the still store off. The still store image is still displayed, even though the number is lit up. You have to navigate on the timeline or use arrow keys to advance the play head to refresh the display with the clip in the viewer and not the image in the still store.
Please have a look and fix this because in grading dailies we rely on an easy to use and functional still store. Thanks.

OUPS...
Indeed, the Film Look was enable... It's the reason why it was very processing consuming... My mistake !
So, it's much quicker as the previous versions... Incredible ! :patriot:`
But in 25f/s and with sound, the problem is not fixed... Impossible to create AAF files for DnxHD transcoding.

This is a problem with the Avid DNxHD SDK that we use. We can't fix that on our end. Hopefully we'll get an update soon. In the meantime a solution would be to export video & audio separate and loading both assets in to your Avid.

workaround:
export 25p mxf without sound + BWF files of the same clips from rx.
takes only a couple minutes more and both tracks autosync perfectly in avid.
hope that helps.
