Welcome to the new Thread!

Let's have a RED TORONTO meeting soon.
I'd like to get everyone together, next Friday March 2nd at 7pm if enough of us are available.
The location is "The Real Jerk" 709 Queen St E (at Broadview).
It's an easygoing relaxed place, we can kick back, have a RED Stripe beer, and chat about:

Now we all know why RED did pick 300mm primes and why it goes all the way to 120fps.

Jerk chicken was great, as usual….
I liked RED Magnet’s girlfriends but all three, I didn’t expect:-)

I found it really interesting to see the cross-section of RedUsers at the Toronto meeting: indie filmmakers, DP's, motion graphics artists, new post-production businesses, camera enthusiasts. That's what I took away from the first meeting. Some very knowledgeable folks showed up. Wide ranges of experiences and plans for their Reds. I think it's valuable to meet and create that network of information, because a lot of different bases are being covered. Toronto is a cool town.

I'll second that Sean. As pioneers it's important we get to know each other offline, never know when you're gonna need backup.

I'm uncertain at this time.
My shooting schedule is pretty involved and I have other business "things" on the go. I just don't have time to give it much attention :wacko: so I'd be a mess in terms of flights and accommodations etc.

It's probably a bit early for me to be worried about this, but does anybody know how much money the Canadian government is going to want for taxes, customs etc when our camera's get here?

Well you'll have to pay yer GST/PST but there is no duty (customs) added for pro "video" cameras.

Hello to all Canadian film makers, two RED cams will be coming to Saskatchewan, the first is RED #72, and it is scheduled to ship Sept.15th 07, and the second will be arriving Jan. 2008.

I am directing a short film in November in Toronto and I am looking to rent a Red Camera in early November for 3-4 days. I was forwarded this column from another forum. Does anyone have one available or know who I might contact to find one? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks so much.

Hi Ryan, we will have two REDs available in early December. If your film is pushed we'll be glad to accommodate you.
