Hi guys

Does Cooke 25-250mm covers EPIC on 5K FF ? Anyone experience with it ?

If no..what zoom 25-250mm that covers it ?

I tried to search but cant find any info on it

Please let me know if you know anything about the coverage for EPIC in Cooke 25-250mm

Thanks
Rivai

As of this time there are no 10, 11 or 12:1 zooms that cover the Epic at 5K that I know of. Supposedly Angenieux is coming out with some sort of mod for the 24-290 Optimo, but nothing's in the wild yet. My Cooke 25-250 T4 MKII covers 4K but nothing larger till 50mm or so.

Thanks Evin

I have the older version of Cooke T2.8 25-250mm, big and heavy. It's in service, cleaning up the lens. I havent get the chance to test it out with the EPIC yet

Assumption based on your result, i think my lens wont cover 5K FF either, despite the fact larger and heavier..maybe has worse coverage than the MK2

Very nice Rivai, you're in a small and exclusive club!

The answers you seek can be found in Timur's review of my lens:

The Canon 11x EF 28-300mm covers the EPIC easily of course, being a stills lens. Unfortunately you can only shoot it as a variable prime due to the fact that it's a trombone action zoom, and it can't hold it's speed through the entire range. Anyone know a stills lens of tolerable quality with a similar range but a conventional zoom ring?

Very nice review Mike. Exactly the reference im looking for. I will get back the lens very soon. Knowing this ahead is better. It seems dropping down to 4K is still the solution.

Thanks you :)

Hi Mike

Just get back the lens. I have to say it performed much better than my expectations. There's a very slight vignette at 25mm, but it's so much less than other cooke zoom mk3 and old angeniuex. And the characteristic of the image produces is beautiful. Performed well with EPIC. At 5K WS, vignette disappears completely.

Altho it is big and heavy but nice
