View Full Version : Media 100HD
Waiting to receive our camera. Can the Red be compatible with Media 100HD?
It runs on a dual 2.7 G5 with 3.5 gigs of ram. For now we do our editing in SD.

The G5 Power PC will be a problem for RedCine. It only works on intel Macs. See if you can get a cheap fast XP system for RedCine.
Project 4k will let you use Adobe Premier Pro with R3D natively I believe. I maybe wrong.
Adobe Premier is a pretty cheap editing system, and you can knock together a PC cheap and load it with 1TB drives to give yourself a bit of room to work with.
I am abandoning my trusty old G5s. The new machines are just too good.
My recommendation is that you through 5k at a new Mac Pro with FCS2, that would be well worth the money, and the FC cards are priced okay, so you can get a G-speed or something like that.
Good luck ACP.
Thanks for the reply, but I think you misunderstood my question. I realize that RedCine needs th intel mac, I was wondering since we edit on Media100HD (G5 config) and Media100i (G4 config) can I download the footage from the Red camera drives to my edit systems? What would be the best work flow to accomplish editing on the Media 100 system, if possible?
