My red rocket has been working fine in my system for months, but just recently the card does not show up! I am running it on a mac and when I go to "about this mac" it does not show up in the PCI slots... any ideas, or advice!

Thanks,

Adam

Have you tried reinstalling the driver and then the firmware?

Yes I have tried installing the new drivers and firmware! I have also moved to different PCI slots and I know my PCI slots are working because my black magic card works in the same slots where the Rocket was.

did you try the dip-switch #8 for safe mode then reinstall firmware?

I did try that where I switched it to #8 then reinstalled the card and the tried to reinstall the firmware, but I can't reinstall the firmware because my computer won't recognize the card to do that.

Heres another thread that has the dip switch instructions from RED:

Thanks but no luck with dip switch, I can't get the system to see it. Does anybody know what the warranty is on Battle Tested items. I bought this card last May I hoping its a year and I should be fine....

Did you happen to pull the power cord to the mac after you installed the firmware? Sometimes a complete power cycle will help instead of just a restart or a shutdown.

yep tried that as well.. I think the card is dead.... now lets pray it's still under warranty!

battle tested cards are 3 month warranty only, retail cards are one year.

if RED deems the card dead or a malfunction they can't figure out, the best they can do for you is a replacement for about 3 grand rather than the full retail price. I ran into to a similar problem but dip switch and switching pci slots got the card to show up, and rolling back the firmware fixed all my issues. I'm just petrified of ever upgrading the firmware again now. I can't even use the newest one that's out right now cause it messes up my card. I'm hoping the next gen version will be more compatible...

I really feel strogly that these cards being nearly 5000 dollars should be backed up with a stronger warranty say 3 years. They are precariously delicate susceptable to static . I for one have had 4 cards in 3 years and thats troubleing to say the least, not to mention, without one the already maligned reputation that the workflow would only help to take the camera decision out of the creative process and put the choice in the hands of producers that much more than it already is...try dealing with 5k without a rocket is like starting a fire with a wet rag!!!

+1

I also would like to not feel the need to prepare of buying a RR every year.
RR is very essential to the RED workflow.
