I recently put a deposit down #3041 with one RED 18-50 and 50-150... and I must admit, I am excited!

Now the stupid question: I have over $20K in accessories for my HVX such as a Chrosziel matte box, follow focus, Cartoni Focus head, Panasonic 17" LCD, and crazy enough a Steadicam Flyer. As with every upgrade over the last 10 years, I discovered where I lost the most money, was on the sale of accessories with the cameras. How much of the above will translate well to the RED. Is the RED too heavy for the Flyer when stripped to bare minimum? It looks like it's hitting about 15 pounds.

On another note, what a great community this is. I have never seen this type of support for any camera, much less any product out there! Cheers to all, and an early thanks for the answers.

The Flyer is probably just on the edge. The RED will be over it's limit for sure w/ lens and focus. It might be workable though. It will fly a lot different than a HVX, but It's worth trying. If you power the camera via a batt on a belt or on the belt clip mount RED sells you might be good. Also if you use some Standard speed primes instead of the zoom that would help too.

Your follow focus can be adapted. What size is the matte box? If you don't use the hard drive and keep the battery hanging on the tripod, you should be able to use that tripod with the Red stripped down.

Thanks for the reply...
The Matte Box is the 450-01 (designed for the HVX200 and Sony eq size). It is a pretty standardized 16 X 9 box.
Loaded with the FF, MM2 adaptor, and Nikon glass, the camera weighed in at 14.5 pounds. Pretty heavy. The Flyer seemed to handle that weight with no problem. I was told they could go to 16 pounds no problem. Hopefully this will work! Otherwise, anyone want a Steadicam flyer?? :-)
