Currently, this file contains the "color settings" applied in RED ALERT
what is it good for?
Eventually, as I understand it, this will be the "look file" that you can move between the CAMERA, RED ALERT and REDCINE.

depends of what RED does in the extremely near future - but the goal, I assume, is to be able to create, save, share and exchange color settings ("look files") -

well ... lots of people and facilities are NOT "processing" footage the correct way.

depends on the workflow that we design for the project, based on the needs of the project. At Offhollywood we use SCRATCH for color grading - and that is a significant weapon for working with .r3d files. I am not exactly sure what you mean when you say "manage color space" - but, for the record, we are strongly leaning towards using the cineSPACE solution from Rising Sun Research (http://cinespace.risingsunresearch.com/) in our new facility - but we are also looking at others. So, I am not sure if that answers your question, as your question is a bit vague -

Stuart's comment about "look" files from another thread: "that is the plan - to save / recall .rcc ("look") files to / from the camera and post production software."

It's RedAlert's memory of what you've done to an R3D file. It stores a history of the last 10 times you've opened it and what you did to it. It's just for RA.
We'll have a properly little format for moving look data between software and camera.

Hi Graeme,
Is there any update on how to move look data between software and camera? It would be great if I could export the metadata from RedAlert or RedCine as camera profile, store it on the SD card and load it in the camera. The other way around would be great as well.
Cheers

So is rsx a function to be enabled later? Can I generate rsx files now?

just open an r3d in redalert and it will automatically generate the file in the same folder the r3d came from.

Hey Scott,
any idea how to generate a .RLK file from the rsx? Would be great to get the metadata from RedAlert into the camera ;)
cheers

Yes...patiently waiting to be able to do this. Any idea of time frame?

not yet, I imagine we should get this soon. I am hoping we can get multiple clips in redalert, or redcine to generate rsx files also.
