Hey,

We shot some test footage on a Red and when we bring a 4K clip into RedCine it looks and plays fine but when we bring the same 4K clip into RedAlert it shows some colourful distortion in the bottom half of the frame throughout the clip. The clip will only play for a few seconds and then RedAlert will crash. The same happens when we try to bring the same clip into FCP via the Quicktime proxies, the same distortion in the bottom half of the frame and after a couple of seconds of play FCP crashes with no error messages.

2K clips work fine.

We're on the latest version RedCine (1.0.2) and Red Alert (1.3.4). I've installed the Quicktime FCS2 Red Plugin (1.5.0) as well. This is on an 8 Core Mac Pro CPU. I have used this setup (with older versions of RedCine and Red Alert) to play Red clips before with no problems, but not Red clips from the particular camera.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Dave

red alert 4k@ 2:1 is cool
red alert 4k@ 16:9 sorry no go

redcine : works on the pc side without problems with 16:9
mac side: some get it through redcine, some not (including me)

no proxy work with 4k @ 16:9

but if you have no problems with 2k@ 16:9 can you upload a 2k@16:9 r3d file?

Are these new problems with the new versions of RedCine and Red Alert? I don't recall these problems with previous versions. Or are these problems with the camera files (R3D and Quicktime Proxies created in the camera?)

Thanks

Thanks for your input.

Does anyone else have any ideas as to what might be the problem? Is this happening to anyone else or is this specific to my set up?

I made the same mistake.
4K 16:9 RedCine only
4K 2:1 RedCine/RedAlert/QT Proxies

Again, the problem is that you're loading 4K 16:9 footage. That won't work in RED ALERT or the QuickTime codec. It currently only supports 4K 2:1.

I'm hard at work fixing that issue....
