So we have new ipad3 with 2k resoultion. What are the possibilities of programming ipad3 to read Red footage from the camera in 2k resolution? It helps to have better preview.

I'm wondering what has happened to the EPIC/SCARLET's ability to stream an encrypted signal to an iPad via WiFi. Is that part of the Pro I/O module's capability? Red certainly touted this functionality when it originally announced the EPIC.

Get a teradek. I just got mine last week and I can't describe how awesome it is to have my ipad become a wireless monitor.

Why would I spend a grand or more on a 3rd party product for what was supposed to be (and may still be) native functionality, albeit via an additional RED module?.

I guess I am really asking RED to confirm or deny that this is still going to happen.

Well it's Buy now for what you need from what's available or wait for what's not imperative and MAY happen.

Eric, I got the HD-SDI wireless model (Cube 150) and it plays back at 24fps with probably less than a quarter-second delay (i.e. the director wont notice any lag). Once you connect more than 1 iPad, it's better to run the cube off a wireless router, otherwise the video stream chokes.

Michael, I'm pretty positive the Epic brain itself is not capable of any wireless transmitting other than REDlink for the redmote. Unless there's a wifi chip in the brain that they haven't mentioned to us yet, you'll need either a teradek or a (rumored) wifi module from Red to get a wireless image.

I think this is a feature that would make every crews life easier on set. I had scenarios where i wont be able to see the slightest mistake in follow focus. This feature will be awesome to avoid those mistakes and be productive. I believe in RED as they had come this far in few years. Lets hope for the best.

Note that the delays in transmission (especially WiFi) can make life difficult for the AC doing the follow-focus. I will again point out that you cannot trust the color on iPads. Great for framing and focus, and of course, performance.
