Is there an App and hardware solution that allows the iPad to become a camera mounted monitor complete with waveform, focus assist, exposure check etc? I have the new 7" TVlogic monitor and am not all that impressed with the resolution, form or function. Hardware is not the problem since there are dozens of heavy duty mounts available that airplane pilots use since that industry has fully embraced the iPad.

Anyone want an App to make the iPad a fully functioning camera mounted tool? I'll start a Kickstarter project if there is an expressed broad interest here.

I'm thus expressing interest.

(Though i wonder if the port has enough bandwidth to support 2k data transfer.)

I guess what youll need is a hardware solution that can convert an SDI signal to an IPAD sync cable, then an app that can pull that data in and play it in realtime.

Seems like it would end up being pretty pricey... but im in if you can do it.

still looking forward to the big 9" touch red LCD....

Can't use the HDMI out?

I'm controlling my RPP via the ipad using an external FF via wireless ethernet and really like that approach from a set management viewpoint. It would be really nice to have a defined interface on the scarlet/epic ethernet port (I'd get some type of wire to wireless device) ... and allow any remote application to control the camera (hopefully via a "rest" type interface). Note on the ipad ... it's really not very rugged, film sets take more bumps and stuff then people expect, my screen is breaking to pieces slowly ... i'm hoping ipad3 doesn't have the glass going to the exact edge.

As a wish list, with a Rest (put/get) interface, it would allow your laptop, android, or ipad to control the camera(i.e. I don't think the wireless interface should be to a specific vendor, but should be to standards). Would also be a lot easier interface for RED to provide, and would allow easy ENG and Studio integration.

I am considering the Teradeck Cube solution that monitors to iPad. I really love the idea of a wireless monitoring solution.

This video is what convinced me to invest in RED, I have a feeling it's just a hint of the future...

For remote hdmi the "HD-SDI Encoder - Dual Band WiFi, External USB Port and Ethernet" controller looks really sweet ... is only 2k too ... would be nice for jib and platform work.

Absolutely. Also nice for directors monitoring if I am on a Glidecam.

This is the one I am eyeballing, but I am trying to figure out the best solution for Power. I hope I can repurpose my Canon Batteries!

Try before buy... huge disappointment I think. The teradek lags even to computers and to pads or iPhone we talk like up to 10 seconds.. Had it played with it and realized it was not possible to use for anything. I think red would have their wifi module out if it was not for the reason that Wifi does not really work for sending any quality picture across in real time.

Thank you! I appreciate it! I am trying to find a place that rents a 150 so I can try it. Good Call!

Is this REDmote App available ? I could not find it...

Not so much for REDmote functions - RED has that covered. Just straight up wired monitoring off the HDMI or SDI port with an App to go with.

RED announced an h264 wireless transmitter module last year that would monitor direct to iPad, but there hasn't been talk of it since.

I know you can play from a iPad through HDMI to a monitor. Can you use the same HDMI adapter to feed signal to the iPad to make it the monitor? Is there an App or converter box for that? I've heard that the Mac Mini can be used in the chain but cannot see how.

If RED produces the wireless transmitter then it would most likely work with this:

Anyone hear any chatter about this subject?

Its called airshare or air display which is in effect using an iPhone or ipad as a second monitor. Works fine subject to the wireless network issues.

So I wonder what happened to this App? Still in Pipeline or DOA?

That video is the main reason I didn't end up buying a Redmote. No offense to the good folks at RED, (they designed the products after all) but why spend $550 on an item with much less overall functionality than the iPad or iPhone, one or both of which you probably already own? The app seems like it would be a brilliant boon for REDusers.

Either way, very excited to see what RED has in store in a couple weeks at NAB 2012. =)

At NAB I saw the new Teradeck Cube - the latency is very much improved. It seemed to be abut 10 - 15 frames. Also saw their integration with the Alexa - being able to control the camera from the ipad while you're viewing the feed - very cool. Now if only RED would release their iPad app or let TeraDeck do it for them .

NAB 2013 is coming up and still no App for the iPad! Is it dead or what?

I was at a shoot which was 99% RED, but they pulled out a gh3 for some quick pick up shots where they wanted something small/light ... and they showed me the network interface. Basically you can do just about everything through a iphone/ipad with the GH3. I really hope RED will do something like that.
