I don't have a RED camera reserved, but I wanted to check if there are people from Holland/Belgium here who got one reserved?

My company has reservation number 350 in Leeuwarden. I believe there are quite a few reservations here in The Netherlands.

Yep, there are quite a few actually here in Holland (somewhat to my surprise).

I did reserve a Red too... :) If you're based in Brussels, I think I'll be the only Red Owner around for quite a few months ... ;)

Surprisingly indeed Rob, there is little to no film industry in our country. Do you know the actual number of reservations?

The guys who were in line just before me own a rental house in Holland and bought at least 4 or 5 cameras.

In an old thread over at DVXuser we already figured out there were around 12 reservations in Holland - and this was last october. I don't know how many have been reserved in the second round, but this is what I've gathered this far:

9 of them at rental houses:

5 @ Camalot
2 @ Camera Rentals
1 @ Het Raam
1 @ Vocas

I have #368
Mick van Rossum NSC has #451
Floris van Liesker has #543

The map: http://www.reduser.net/forum/membermap.php shows two others:

DIP #1083
Jack #350

I don't know, don't have a list here or something ;)

In Holland I've never really worked in media (TV / film), am a software engineer by education and work. As we all know, the media business over here is quite closed. So I've never really had any interactions in that world or know much about it. A good friend of mine does work for RTV Drenthe though.

But I am very interested in the TV / film stuff that is going on, especially of course with RED and where that will be used and so on.

What are you going to do with #350, Jack?

jack

RED 350 will mostly be shooting commercials and corporate videos. And in September we’ll be making a short film for the Noordelijk Film Festival.

We most likely are the first moving toward 4k digital acquisition in the North, and I’m confident that it will bring us new business opportunities. It’s a really exciting time in the industry; I can hardly wait until NAB!

Are you flying over for NAB? If so stop by the booth and ask for me. Always good to meet other Dutchmen (or women).

Yes I’m planning on going there. It would be nice to meet you at the booth.

As far as my knowledge goes, we are at 16 Red's now in Holland... Quiet a few (1 out of every million dutchmen....), so another one in Fryslan, ans I know of 3 other cinematographers, a couple of rental houses and some editors/vfx specialists...

Actually, that makes 2 Reds in Fryslân, since i live both in Amsterdam and Bantega.....

That’s an impressive resume you got there.
I just started out in the business, working my way up producing corporate videos, commercials and live events. You can visit our website through here (http://www.tilalli.nl).

I'm looking for a person or company who is willing to demonstrate the Red One in november this year in Helmond (nearby Eindhoven) at a small filmfestival called Duistere Openbaringen. Please contact me at info(a)duistere-openbaringen.net. Thanks!

I am considering to make a reservation; We do a lot of corporates and are based near Eindhoven in the south of the Netherlands.
Just wanna know what Avid will bring up to accomodate with redcode to guarantee a smooth workflow. Since we are early adopters of Avid (1993!), we are used to their workflow.

We have a reservation too for a REDONE. We are from Zeeland in the Netherlands and I believe we have a reservation number around 2100.

We plan on using it mostly for shooting tv commercials, action sports (slowmotion) and promo videos. We do not claim to be DP's who know what they are doing (we don't), we just need a brilliant camera to make sure that the camera can not be the thing that is limiting the quality of our products. I really don't like walking around with a feeling of insecurity whether footage will technically look good enough once broadcast on television. So once having good tools, it then comes down to creativity combined with experience; learning how to deal with a camera like that. But we see it as a challenge, rather then having ourselves scared off. We figure we might as well start building experience with decent tools then.

Yes, fanboys here. However I am skeptical too, as more and more problems seem to arise with the camera (which is actually a logical thing to happen), and it slowly turns out to be a little less versatile then was first anticipated. Until now RED seemed to have responded well to problems, so that is a very good thing and we dare to put quite a bit faith in RED by now. We'll see how things develop and whether the camera will be the right tool for us. Maybe we will look elsewhere in the end and cancel our reservation after all, but probably not.

For a quick impression of what we do, here is a hidden link for our 2007 showreel:

Would be good to meet up with some other (potential) Red users from Belgium or the Netherlands sometime.

Best regards,

Hi all,
I'm looking for a Red camera to shoot the first scene of a science fiction movie with the themes of time travel and cloning (think The Prestige meets Back to the Future, and some of the comedy stylings of Futurama), with English-language actors but produced in Belgium.
This is a very independently produced flick, I'm a freelance all-round film person, I've made plenty of short films but it would be my first feature. That's why I'm shooting only the first ten pages, over propably two weekends mid-februari 2008. I've assembled a talented crew and am doing visual effects and prop-building myself. I would love to have a chance to work with a Red cam on this project, but I have to say up front I won't be able to pay a lot of money. Yup, it's one of those projects, but hopefully after shooting the first scene will make finding the funding necessary for shooting the remaining 80 minutes possible, at least that's the plan.
So if any red user here is interested in collaborating on this project, please let me know.
