I remember a while back there was talk of a few key features that Red may include. I'm hoping these features haven't been forgotten or overlooked since then.

First, will there be an optional re-sharpening algorithm?

Second, will there be optional asa settings as Jim spoke of?

This would only concern those shooting in RGB. Raw is raw, no cooking! Think of the mysterium like a negative, you can't change your ASA or resharpen your negative. You can choose another negative true, maybe one day we'll have a set of CMOS, CCDs and other capture devices we can interchange. In the meanwhile, you'll be able to do all the cooking (ASA settings, resharping, etc either in RedCine or some other software). Jim did announce RedCine would do more than initially planned! (Color correction?)

As for the settings when shooting RGB, I'm sure you'll have the above options and more, but when you think about Raw is so much better. Never the less, RGB will have it's uses, ie. 120fps).

Damien

My understanding is when you change the ASA setting, it actually changes the amount of gain on the analog side of the sensor. This is something you obviously can't do in post, even with RAW data, so it would need to be an in-camera setting.

Indeed.

I may have spoken too fast. Can you change the gain level of the sensor? Any specialist/technician/electronics engineer/Red team member able to enlighten us?

Cheers,
Damien

I don't think you can change the gain of the sensor. But you can add analog gain before the D/As. That's what the ASA setting in a digital SLR does, I believe.
