View Full Version : RED Training in SF - 4k finishing using FCP and SCRATCH - Jan. 24th
01-18-2008, 12:53 PM
Silverado is hosting a RED 4k finishing class next week in San Francisco.
The training is free, but space is limited due to the venue.
You can get all the details on the link above. If you are interested in learning about SCRATCH and how it works with FCP, I really recommend you come.
We'll have a full RED ONE system setup and can go directly from camera, to FCP, and then to SCRATCH.
ALSO! We'll be showing a complete field portable tapeless archive and backup system that fits in an airline carry-on case. RAID 1 and LTO-3 tape backup--in one box!
If you have any questions that the link doesn't answer, please contact me directly at the e-mail address below.

any chance of a podcast of the training? or maybe shoot it and post some quicktime files online?
I'm sure anyone who couldn't make it (or isn't in the area) would greatly appreciate it. I know I definitely would. If you can, many thanks in advance.

I was going to ask the same thing and have several times earlier on different threads, any type of hands on demo, walk and talk through or further real world clearifications are greatly appreiciated...
Much thanks, DD.

It would indeed be nice for us Europeans to have some video content from the event if possible and if you'd be able to do this.

Great running in to you and your crew at the MacWorld FCP SuperMeet. I'll see you on 3rd street and hopefully you can help put this together for me.

Torrey, is it honestly only going to be one hour? that doesnt seem like enough time to get into the nitty gritty. I'm driving 2 hours each way and was hoping it would be rather in depth.

yes. podcast if possible. don't think I can make it Torrey.

The class will be about an hour as this is more of an overview rather than a 4-hour class.
That said, we'll be there early and staying later for the sake of folks who want to see it more up close.
We made this first training in San Francisco to be more accessible to everyone in Northern California. We won't be broadcasting this one.
However, if it turns out that there is a ton of interest and that the class is simply too much to overview in an hour, we'll most likely host a much longer one in the Sacramento area next and try to broadcast that one.
If it makes you feel any better, we're driving two hours each way, too.

well, im still up for it. :)
can you tell me about the parking situation?
01-22-2008, 11:22 PM
There is a secret little alley about 100' around the corner that has great parking, but there are only a few spots--so they are first come, first served!
01-22-2008, 11:45 PM
if we dont make those spots is there other parking available?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is Scratch ?
What does it that FCP doesn't ?

It supports Native REDCODE RAW for Dailies, Conform, Color Grading and Finishing.
You can find a lot of posts about Scratch on Reduser.
