So, of course, no one ever announces a product ahead of time, but I'm wondering if anyone might have any solid info if the Rocket will be updated anytime soon?
Seems several years later, a second generation, faster, possibly cheaper card could be around the corner?

Or will we all be using the same RR card for all of our work two years from now? :)

Whatever the answer, this Hour per minute transcoding is killin' me! :D

I would prefer Red to work with the company that supposedly has the Nvidia GPU decoding the compression ( 2K real time ) .
It would be cheap, and much faster than the current cardless RCX decode.
Or They can fully multithread the CPU decode in RCX to light up the cores. Right now I have a blown top fuel v8 running on 3 cylinders, if you know what I mean.

If you break the frames into concurrent tasks with something like thinkbox's deadline you can much better utilize your cores.

Would not be impressed if they released at least a new revised board.

The RR is based out of the old atomix card, and there are a few newer models already from DVS, with newer features and whatnot, I would not be impressed if RED was working with DVS on a next generation RR based on the newer models that supersede the old atomix reference board used by the current rockets. Would be a simple evolutionary step. But then, the RED guys never like simple evolution, so who knows what they have in mind.
