Jon, the lights you linked to are not HMI, are HMI HID, a totally different light, it is not set at 5500 kelvin but at 5300 kelvin, not big difference but big in off to some.

It will not be under $400 as the ballast(needed comes separate, but still a very good deal for those that might need a light fixture like those, obviously they are very small and to get to a true 1200 HMI PAR light out put you will need plenty of this little ones, also filter gels must be apply to get to the correct daylight out put.

All in all I think that they can be an additional fixture of good value to many Indies, I never seen this lights before so I don't know if they are any good or not, but again I do believe in diversity in products is always a good thing so people have more to choose from.

BTW - I picked up one of these up out of curiosity... it's equivalent of 1k Tungsten by my tests... not 2400! They are fairly well made tho...

Ketch,

Please forgive my ignorance, what does 'bump' mean?

Hey Manny, yea a friend also has two of them and He was very unhappy with the lights, but I told him He should not be especting more then He got from those little suckers for what He paid they are no bad.

*Mike, "Bump" is a term widely used in the forums communities and it is simply a way to revive a otherwise burried post, it basically brings it back to the top of the line ( on the first page ) so that it can be easily found and seen by all.

Had to buy one of the alzovideo.com out of curiosity alone. It IS under $400. no external ballast. True, it's a bit warmer than an HMI. Also comes off a bit green (Just a tinge, threw a 1/4- green in and it looked better) It kicks like a 400 par to me although I haven't done a direct comparison.

Not extremely well made. But heck, it's $400 bucks! I've paid a fortune for my other HMIs. Pretty good solution for some...

When someone writes 'bump', it is solely intended to move the thread to the top spot in the thread list. Usually the 'bump' method is used because the creator of the thread feels that the thread was ignored and wants people to look at it again. In this case, Ketch is using it to increase the visibility of the equipment he's trying to sell.

Personally, I think it is in bad taste to simply bump a message without there being some updated information, or at least clarification of why the bumper thinks everyone should revisit the thread. If everyone were to bump their messages then legitimately updated threads would be missed as they'd get pushed off the first page rather quickly by the older bumped threads.

Yes vincelucero I wish you did too, that way I could have already sold them to you.

*Lokus,

I have only use the "bump" when posting from away from home with my iphone.

In this case I had reduced the pricing to $4,500 and added some photos as I realized that none DVXUSER members might not see them, unfortunately I must not have saved properly as none of the intended info was added.

There was no reason to double post the info, and its always better to do it in the first original post, therefore the "bump"

That's fine, usually there's a reason for things.
