Hey everyone,

So it has begun. Im upgrading to the Ivy Bridge 3770k when it releases in a couple of weeks and while im at it, im upgrading my MoBo as well.

Here is my selection at the time.

Suggestions? Seems good enough for me, but I am not a pro, and I expect Jeff Kilgore to come in here and basically tell me how silly it is to buy this. (In all seriousness Jeff, please tell me if this is a good decision or not)

But, here is a question. I am currently running 16gb of RAM. The MoBo that I have picked out can accept 32gb. Now, is it a waste to have 32gb? Will 16 hold over just fine?

Im currently doing everything on this comp. Premiere, AE, Audition, DaVinci, RCX to name a few. Along with playing Diablo 3 :-\...

So let me know what you guys think!

I talked to Davinci about a month ago. The one thing their engineers were insistent upon was that all GPU's be in x16 slots if you want real time performance. If you're serious about running Resolve you'll need to check their system config spec's.

I would seriously consider a motherboard with 6+ PCI slots.

Hey Michael - I would totally make the jump from 16gb to 32gb if you can. Memory is so cheap these days and especially when working in 4k between multiple apps, it's going to give you a fair bit more headroom :)

Yea, I am gonna go ahead and get 32gb. More can't hurt.

The Sabertooth board has a x16 slot and then 2 x8s.
