Anyone have hiccups with the RED CF cards? I'm copying some footage over to the raid and it's taking forever. I have the FW800 Sandisk. The first 3 cards zipped by in 3-4min.
This last card hung up. I restarted copy after ejecting and it'll go up to 5.8gbs of 7.26 in 3min. Then drags along for over 10 minutes transferring the remainder.
I'll do more tests but wanted to see if anyone has seen something similar.

Are you using a Mac or Windows?

Just FYI, DO NOT plug that FW800 Sandisk reader into a FW400 port! Doing so results in poor performance and even corrupt data.
Now, with that out of the way, if that doesn't describe your problem.... What OS? Other system info? etc..

Corrupt data? Holy crap!!! Sticky it quick! On that note, how are people verifying footage besides data size? Right now I have to open all clips from the card, and from the raid in RED Cine.
BTW, I'm on a Mac, FCP 6, FW800 port. It looks like it was the individual card as the others transferred fine. Defective? I'm on a tight post deadline but will try to shoot on it this weekend.

I have written a little tool for Windows (a couple of nights ago, freeware) that can copy files from A->B (verifing the on disk data as it goes). I`m adding ability to copy entire folders (recreating structure on destination). It uses a buffer. A crude stopwatch test yesterday (using a usb power drive, pretty slow 18mb/sec max -> usb drive, pretty slow ?mb) show it would take about 11min to copy 8gig (verified). Only one person has contacted me about it, its free. Its not specific to Red or CF cards, its a general `safe` copy tool. I wrote a command line version ages ago to backup important data between drives. PM me and I`ll work/improve it quicker/send you a copy. Total programming time, so far, is only about thirty minutes, so improvements will be pretty quick.

Have you experienced a problem with the Lexar reader? I've been using the Lexar 800 on my 1st generation MacBook Pro connected via FW400 and never had a problem. I've probably transferred 600GBs of footage that way and no signs of corruption. I'd be very interested to hear of others having problems.

No the Lexar FW800 reader seems to work fine on both Mac and PC and on both FW800 and FW400. No issues here. The Sandisk reader seems to be the one with issues connecting the FW800 model to an FW400 connection. It's been mentioned here and there on the forums. Seems a few people have had a problem. I use the LEXAR FW800 reader and I highly recommend it.
