i switched to a mac....have more then 30 GB redfootage.
now my question:

all footage is in one folder called REDFOOTAGE1
every footage from one cf card has its own folder:mag1...mag2...mag3
inside each mag folder are around 10 folders.
in each of this folders is one r3d.file

i want to batch process proxys with anders redalert plug in.

Is the following possible?
i want to create a complete new folder with aliases of all the r3d. footage out of my redfootage1 folder.
I want to tell my new alias_redfootage1 folder:
Hey, take all .r3d footage you will find in the REDFOOTAGE 1 folder and make aliases of all of these right here.

If this happens: now i have ONLY one folder, with all r3d.alias files....
start batch processing.

making aliases of each r3d.file manually sucks!!!

That is what AUTOMATOR is for my friend!

If you have not used it yet - you are in for a BIG surprise. We use it to batch alias's and everything like that - you can do amazing things with Automator and Compressor.

The exact specifics of how to do it ... well ... that's what we get paid for. But it's NOT difficult.

Now that you own a mac - it's time to shake hands with Automator. Your new best friend.

You can also do a spotlight search and just restrict it it to the root of where your red footage lives. Search for something like .r3d or H.mov.... boom, all your files in one place. Create a compressor droplet and drag these files into the droplet. Done.

You could also make an automator workflow as mark described. Play around with it for 10 minutes and you'll figure it out. It's really simple.
