I know it's not Epic, but it IS part of my kit and I have an urgent question.

How do you adjust a HEDEN focus motor so it's clutch is not as loose, on a tight lens the motors spin but don't have the power to spin the lens...

Anyone know how to adjust the clutch on the focus motor so it it's tighter?

It's been a while but I think it goes like this -

Take the gear off

Under the gear are maybe three bolts/machine screws

Turn them each a quarter turn to tighten up the clutch

I cant remember if you have to remove a cover plate, or anything, I think the screws are just behind the gear.

take off large gear? It has small white gear (locating gear?) and the larger one that turns the lens. Large one has 3 screws in it.

under large gear I see 3 flat head screws and 3 very very small setscrew looking hex heads, VERY small next to each flat head screw.....???

Yeah the main drive gear, the big one. The little white gear it the potentiometer so the motor knows where it is. You jogged my memory, I m pretty sure it's the little tiny allen heads that you tighten. Basically inside the motor can, there is a stack of discs with ball bearings in between them. That's the clutch. When you tighten the little allen head screws, you put more pressure on the plates and it takes more for them to slip.

It's been a while since I took one apart, and I don't recommend it unless you have a good set of tools and are very mechanically inclined, but tightening the clutch is simple. Just tighten the little allens and you should be good.

hahaha if I had a head (no pun intended) that small I could make it happen. But I don't, my Allen keys are much larger then this little guy.

what size? and where would I find an Allen key that small? Home Depot?

They are going to be metric, probably 1.5mm I think. A good electronics store will have them. Or you could try a camera shop. C'mon, every body should have a set of Wihas that small ;-) Make sure you get good ones. Shitty allen wrenches that small suck and you'll just strip them.
