Sorry for putting this thread here, but I need some help due to a job coming soon.

So here are my steps of going from R3D files to importing in Avid, but it's just not working with media offline

1. Export r3d file from redcine as 24p 1080 DNxHD175 to Avid MediaFiles>MXF>1
2. I then import the ALE file
3. I tried using media tool to find clips
4. No clips show up
My project is saved as a 1080/24p project btw

2. I directly drag the AAF file to the big
3. Clip drags but media is offline

I need some help guys and I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I have a job coming up soon. I did it before, but now I don't know what's happening.

Thanks,
Mike

Trash your two .msm files in your Avid MXF 1 folder. Restart Avid. That will re index your folder and find any new MXF files that were created. Drag your AAF into an Avid bin. Your clips should show up. If they don't, try re linking your sequence.

I deleted the only msm file in my MXF, restarted it but it still won't work. I even tried re linking, but it's not being picked up.

There should be two .msm files in the MXF folder. When you re-started, did Avid re-index the files?
Also, see Michael P's reply to your other post.

Yeah, I did look at it. Like I followed the steps before and they worked perfectly fine. Now I have no ideas why it's not working.

I'm not sure what else it could be. Worst case, just create QT files in RCX and import them into Avid.

Wat version of Media Composer and what generation R3D file? Have you tried directly via AMA (provided you are 5.5 and later)?

Michael

Hey Mike

I have the latest Avid 6.0 and i'm not sure which R3D generation it is but I just shot it on my Scarlet a week ago. I have directly linked R3D clips via AMA and it works. But I want to use transcoded files because its better that way.

BTW, thanks so much for helping Mike. Really appreciate it.

Can you not just transcode your linked AMA files using Consolidate/Transcode?

Actually, I guess that could work. I just tried it and it seems to be fine. But the quality is just not as good as exporting it out through Avid codecs. I guess this shall be a temporary fix until I can get it to work. Thanks so much for the help.

Wow, I didn't know you could do that. That's awesome, the image still looks great. Thanks Brian, big help!

If the mediafiles are not being seen, make absolutely sure that the Avid MediaFiles folder lives on the root of a drive, and that it is not on the system drive.

A good trick to make sure that your mediafiles are living in the right path is to import a graphic file or piece of music, select the resulting clip, then choose File->Reveal File. You will be shown where MC wants to see its media.

No problem! Let me know if you need any other help.
Also, if you have the Red Rocket card, Avid will utilize it, as long as you have your debayer/quality settings set to "full" under the media creation settings. Otherwise, it will not use the card during transcode.
