Just finished shooting establishing shots/b-roll for Dexter on the EPIC, also scenes from the first episode of this season were also shot on the EPIC (3 of them). It was fun.. A bit less organized then I was expecting, but fun.. They will go back to LA and shoot the rest on the Alexa.. Not because of any problems, just because that was decided way in advance of this shoot..

That's real cool Justin... saw the pics you and Egon posted. I was hoping the entire season would be shot on the EPIC.

Actually, it was F23, not F35. The show started on F900 and moved to the F23 when it became available.

Awesome Justin! Congrats. Definitely one of my favorite shows of all time.

Really wish they would come back and shoot the whole series in Florida, but I understand their reasons not to. Hopefully the following season will be all Epics. We can hope.

That's excellent, Justin. The Miami second-unit/stock footage they had been using was definitely looking a little "tired out" last season -- it definitely needed updating.

The crew does a great job on the show, as does my old pal Joe Cook, who's been the colorist on the show since day 1. Very nice-looking show, one of the best Showtime has ever done.

Biggest reason was the fact that hurricanes were running rampant when they wanted to start, and they could not insure their production at the time they needed to shoot because of them.. Kinda sucky!

Hahaha, I enjoyed shooting it, hopefully you don't get tired of it for a bit ;-) I'm sure some of the older stuff will slip in again..

As long as you guys got some new shots of the police station windows on the water! Man, they were still using stuff from season 1, and it was definitely not looking great. Plus a lot of the location car drive-bys had a lot of judder (to me, anyway). Not sure if this was a rolling shutter issue or a shutter angle issue.

I laugh every time I see them do a shot in the parking lot of the "Miami Metro police station," since that's actually part of the parking lot at Sunset-Gower Studios in Hollywood...

Whoah WHoah WHoah - you personally shot the title sequence photography for the Dexter opening? Damn man! Some of the greatest photography in the history of television right there!

Any other tricks in there besides high shutter speed? Such a great look, you really just nailed those shots!

+1 on the titles. LOVE that sequence. The shots, texture, color, and music are fantastic. Brilliantly cleanses the palette. Looking forward to seeing some Epic shots this season.
