Histogram

In Redcine, Redalert and on the camera monitor there is a vertical line that appears at the right hand side of the histogram. It appears to move up and down on the camera monitor. What does this show?

I think it shows how hard/ how much image you have in the clippers. When you just begin to clip it begins to climb up, the more you clip the taller it raises.

I am guestimating here, I will test it more tomorrow.

That's what I thought, but the ones in alert/cine don't move. They seem to be showing where you have lost information which can be pulled back by reducing the ASA.
