Here is a little sneak peak (http://redmodz.com/support/38-element-technica/70-element-technica-shouldermount-rig-prototype-sneak-peek)of the upcoming Element Technica shoulder mount solution that works directly with the RED Arri Baseplates (http://www.red.com/store/show_by_tags/Mounting+Base+Plates).

More thoughts, questions answered later.

Is that ET's 15mm top plate system on your cam? Are they doing a 19mm version?

It mounts onto that rosette on the side of the Arri plate. That covers the right hand - my understanding is that the left hand is free to grab a rod or mattebox.

Can't wait to see a rosette-based rod-mounted solution like the one I posted in the 15mm thread.

And Scott, I believe that ET cheese plate interfaces with RED's 19mm top mounts as is.

Horrible Angle. Wow I finally have use for that Aaton woodcrest handle again.

Brook is right. I just spoke to Stephen this week, and he told me the ET cheese plate does indeed interface with Red's 19mm top mounts.

Ah, and that just killed it for me......Dummy side only handles? No thanks.

I'm sure my AC would love me for having my left arm in his/her face all day while holding onto the mattebox.

That is my only problem with the ET base plate as of now, one dummy side rosette and none on the left.

Hopefully they create a shoulder dovetail hand-held rig.

Twenty bucks says this isn't the only handheld product they're working on. :)

I know it's not....... I'm guessing there will be a rosette adapter that clamps on from the dummy side rosette and adds a second rosette to the left side, that would be a simple fix.

I am not sure they would go that way. More likely I would think they would build a hand held system that has a dovetail top that slides right on to the RED/ARRI bridge plate and has a shoulder pad along with handles.

That was my other guess, found 3 posts up.

I'm definitely happy for rosette's! No more slippage.

We found top-mounting the battery etc makes the camera slightly front-heavy for hand-held work (especially with the awesome Master Primes!!) - you kind of need some sort of weight towards the back to counter-balance it all. The Element Technica 19mm base plate definitely looks like a worthwhile piece of kit for us though.

Have you got the camera fully loaded with kit? Rod's, Matt Box, Cine Lens etc?

I assume the Element Technica rosette is Arri Standard. If so, we have an Aaton handgrip that has been modified with an Arri rosette in Rental here in NY. We could make a cable to trigger the RED as well, but someone has to promise to rent it first.

Mark?
