The Red drive is never secure in the cradle. if you turn it upside down it slides right out. And if you leave it right side up, it isnt a snug connection, it rattles back and forth, makes noise if your doing hand held shots.. Anyone else have this happen to them? I have 4 drives and two cradles...

Simple short term fix we've been using, is to apply a 3x2 inch strip of adhesive velcro to the drive and a matching strip to the cradle, stops the rattle and it won't slide out accidently ( even upside down) , just use enough velcro so that you can still remove it without the velco unsticking. Doesn't seem to get hot enough to mess with the drive staying cool.

Got 5 drives here today at the testing venue, all brandnew and all are loose in the cradle, so i think itīs not fixed yet, think you had luck, Jay ;)

I noticed this, too.

I used my wife's hair scrunchy like a little bungee cord. It hooks to both thumb screws and runs along the grooves of the drive. It has enough tension to not rattle for hand held shots and fast whips.

Low tech solution to a high tech problem.

A slightly less homemade version is an AC-designed product called Bongo Ties. They're available at the rental houses' sales departments usually. I assume filmtools carries them as well. Basically a heavy-duty rubber band with a wooden bowtie piece that you loop over to secure. Nice and clean.
HOWEVER,
I wish that Red had come up with something slightly more secure here. A spring loaded pin that fits into the drive's case? Latched doors top and bottom on the cradle? Something...
I'm going to get a Velcro cargo strap from the camping store (threaded through a plastic buckle) It's the kind of thing you'd secure a blanket roll or cargo with. If they have a 2" wide version I'll try that too.
Should work just fine.
Cheers,
Harry

No, the fix is on the cradle. This has been explained in another thread, forgive for not doing a search for it. But bascially they changed the way the drive is attached in the cradle, there are apparently two types of cradles. If I were you, I would call up Red and ask for an exchange for the new cradle.

Cheers,
Damien
