If I were to place the order today for just a Red One camera body, what are the chances that it would be shipped in June? I know there were a lot of delays early on but have most of those kinks been worked out or are there more delays to come?
I know this is all up in the air, but I have a production that we'd like to have up for July/August that I'd like to shoot on the Red.
Thanks,

What's the Red Team's rules on the deposit? What if you put the deposit down and then decide you don't want/need it? Do you get it back or do they keep it?
If it comes down to the wire I could always just rent one, but we have it in our budget to buy one if one were to become available prior to the shoot.

Until you receive delivery, they'll refund your money.

Put a deposit down, get to know your rental companies that have RED.
Get a RED job and rent the camera. By the time you get your camera
you might have had to rent 3 or 4 times. This would only make
waiting for your camera all the more painful.

That definitely makes sense. We have some leeway in terms of shoot dates, but if it pushes into September/October then it's starting to get to be too late. I suppose depending on prices we could also rent.
Might as well put a deposit down then.

Should answer many of your questions. I think that June would be very realistic! The sooner you order, the sooner you'll have it!
