Enjoy! We'll be progressively posting more clips as we get them edited and graded. Again, a huge thanks to Pelican for their facility, RED for equipment to test, Assimilate for Lucas and the SCRATCH system, Plaster City for the grading, all the LART Team members for their time and equipment, the models and stunt team, Kyle for his hard work, especially to Ken Corben for all his hard work co-producing LART, and anyone else I forgot to thank who contributed to LART.

We will be rolling out the Girls of LART next! We will keep you posted.

HUGE difference between the ungraded and graded shots. Just shows you the power of RAW.

Ahhhh thanks - been looking forward to these. I had a feeling when we shot these, that they would be pretty popular. :)

Can you list the settings used on in REDCINE? (And the Camera settings, of course)

For those of us shooting low light, this would be quite helpful.

The REDCINE Settings were pretty basic. I only did slight enhancements to the original RAW data for aesthetic purposes. I am not quite sure what lenses were used at what T-Stop etc. Maybe Manny and/or Blair could chime in here with those. If i remember correctly, (don't quote me) but I believe Blair was Wide open on a 24mm Super Speed Prime for the shots looking down on the dancers, while Manny was on a RED 18-50 Zoom Wide open at a F3 ground level.? Not sure if the 50-150 RED Zoom played a role in these shots or not. As for REDCINE,

PROJECT: RED ONE 2K 2048 X 1152 23.976

SHOT: 72 Degrees 1/121, 106 1/81, 179 degrees 1/48, 44 Degrees 1/195, 106 1/81

COLOR: Sharpen: NONE,
Detail: High
NR: High
Kelvin: 4800 - 5600
Saturation: 1.325
ISO: 1000 - 1600
Exposure: 0.000
No Brightness, Shadow, Contrast, or Highlight adjustments made.
I made a small S-Curve to richen the Blacks.

OUTPUT: Quicktime ProResHQ, 23.976, Lossless at 2048X1152.

The Conform was done clip by clip back in FCP and Exported to H.264 Lossless for final delivery on VUZE.

All these clips are Pre-Build 12 BTW.

Hope that helps a little.

Much appreciated.

My pleasure! We wanted to post the split screens to show the different workflows possible between, Scratch, Color, and REDCINE.
IMO, Scratch finishing is ultimately going to give you greater control and is the fastest solution (not having to render QT's from REDCINE or DPX files for another high end grading station from the original r3d's is a huge benefit, (obviously!). But, as you can see in the fire dancer edit, you can achieve a pretty good grade, fairly quick. With this solution as it is right now, you still have to conform in FCP all the online QT's from REDCINE clip by clip which can be time consuming (although iBloom's XML exchange script is a great help). Apple Color, was another route that many will want to go with their projects, which i decided to do for the "Theft" fight scene. Its a longer process, IMHO, but can be very powerful as well for many scenarios. I want to begin testing more on the PC workflow's shortly and may do that for the "Girls of LART" edit.

Any suggestions from all the PC guys out there what they would like to see tested, and I'll run with it.

HEY nice work on the edit guys! It looks great. Both nights I was wide open with the 18-50... I might have ridden the aperture a little on the handheld on the second (more puddly) night.

Thanks Manny! You guys shot some great stuff those two nights. It was a lot of fun to put together.

How's it goin' guys?

Any chance more footage is on it's way?

I'd love to even see TIFs and/or JPGs for the other scenes, even if the Quicktimes are still a ways off.

What do ya say? :)

Hi Mike,
I would be interested to hear your findings concerning the workflow between Vegas Pro 8 and Scratch.

Hmmmm... Not much of a Vegas Pro guy. I'll do a little investigating and let you know what can and can't be done at this point and what the best possible workflow could be IMO.

I'll grab a screenshot or two for you guys out of the Girls of LART edit being put together now later this weekend. Been a little busy lately but more is coming shortly.

thanks.

Since we shot so much, I think it would be good to get still images out from all the scenes when possible.
