Red Alert is crashing when I try to load an R3D file. Below is the top portion of the error log. It looks like now that I have updated my laptop is confused as to what version I have. Any old prefs or plist files I should trash.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Process: REDAlert [564]
Path: /Applications/REDAlert.app/Contents/MacOS/REDAlert
Identifier: com.RED.REDAlert
Version: ??? (1.4.7)
Code Type: X86 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [96]

4K 16x9 file by any chance?

If not send the full crash log to "rob at red dot com"

This is just 4K Raw files from the camera? Is there a 4K 16x9 setting in the camera I missed? I just sent you the full crash log file.

Received the file. Looks like something weird is going on. The camera can record in both 16x9 and 2:1. Does the file load with an earlier version of RED ALERT?

Camera just says it's recording 4k Raw. I tried in earlier versions of RED ALERT and same thing. All loads fine in RedCine. I'm scratching my head.
Open to any suggestions at this point.

Tried in 1.3.3 , 1.3.4 , and 1.4.7b

Sounds like 4K 16x9. Open the file in REDCINE, go to the library and clip in the footer bar in the clip (the one with the clip name). It will pop up an information box about the clip. If it says 4096 x 2304 then it's a 4K 16x9 clip that won't (yet) work in RED ALERT, REDLine or QuickTime codec.

For a 4K 2:1 it would say 4096 x 2048

OK thanks for that. It looks as though it's 4096 x 2304. So here is my dumb question ... if the camera is set up to 4K RAW then how do you know if the camera is recording in this 16x9 mode? I assumed 4K RAW is 4K RAW and 4K 2:1 is 4K 2:1 ..... Are you just calling 4K RAW mode 16X9?

Thanks!

that is correct
