Hello

I read somewhere the Red one only does 24 fps? is that true? or does it do various frame rates for slow motion or speed ups?

Not true. Check out RED.com and get all the info on the camera.

REDHKSC has confused a whole crapload of people with his last post so we are getting bombarded with the same question. RED ONE does variable frame rates, all the way up to 75fps in 2k resolution.

And 50 frames looks pretty damn sweet.

well i must be honest ive red the ops manual and im still confused it says "1- 60fps (1-120fps in 2K windowed mode)" to me means 60 fps max in 4k? yet the product page on red.com says 30fps? clarification would be great thanks

I wish there was a better repository for current information. I understand that everything is in flux, but you shouldn't have to scour a forum just to find out what the specs are for your $25k purchase. I've read through the manual as well and still have basic questions.

29.97 is the max 4K speed as of today. It's not just the clock speed of the sensor [which can go to 60p at 4K] - the limitation as of today is the onboard REDCODE compression and the data throughput on the storage devices.

Jarred,

I thought 2k Windowed supported variable frame rates from 1-100? (at least that's what the RED website says under specs (http://www.red.com/cameras/tech_specs))

thanks all, willard etc
so if i want to go above 30fps switch to 3k (with build 14) and the frame simply blows up 30% ish or i get crop marks? same with 2k, you just get a tighter frame to work with?
