Excellent news. Didn't Apple notified you guys?

Hopefully the QT issues on new releases never happens again. I for sure am going to wait for RED's blessing before updating QT next time.

Hopefully the QT issues on new releases never happens again.

I would agree with this sentiment if they had fixed the problems they introduced 7 point releases ago....

I installed 7.4.1 this afternoon, and it's working well.

What config of your computer do you have?

Apple forums have reports of people not being able to log into comps after
update with 7.4.1

I have not tried but considering the fiasco 7.4 was I would wait for the all clear from Mr. Rob to use with Red Cine

Yeah, we tested here, too, and found that it does not solve the problem. Stay with QT 7.3.x at this time....

it is strange, I had upgraded to QT 7.4 from the day one, and now I did an upgrade to 7.4.1 and I see no problems yet. And also, not on one computer but on several. Strange?!!! hmm

Some things are fixed. Better than 7.4... But still broken as far as RED workflow is concerned. Stick with 7.3.

No dice :(

Camera generated files still show up as white movies under Tiger with QT 7.4 and 7.4.1....

Best to downgrade to 7.3....

Sorry guys!

p.s. internal macbook/laptop drive can't keep up with 30+ MB/s datarates!

Rob Lohman
02-07-2008, 09:52 PM
Levan: it only happens with camera generated files running QT 7.4 or 7.4.1 under Tiger!

RED ALERT / REDLine generated files and running under Leopard do not produce this problem

As Brent indicated I've run some tests and 7.4.1 does not fix this problem...

Strange thing.
I'm testing now 7.4.1 under Leopard. And ALL seems to running fine.

Cine, Alert, proxy, fcp.

Just to inform you.

Elcurado, be careful, that's what I thought yesterday. Then my proxies went haywire and haven't worked since. So I edited my above post to just say that some things were fixed and 7.3 is still the one that works.

My test system has been a Macbook Pro w/ ATI X1600 256MB, 2.33GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, eSATA RAID.

RED things seem to be fine with Leopard and the new QuickTime. Problem is just under Tiger.

I'm running Leopard and the new Quicktime, still have the whiteout issue and prior to this, quicktime image export freeze on just about every other clip.

Bought the new Mac Book Pro Last week. 7.4.1 on Leopard as well as 7.3.1 still just displays a blank white quicktime when I try to play proxies. Frustrating.

Redcine and RedAlert seem to work, but I've only used them for viewing and checking footage. I haven't tried to output anything yet.

I'm confused as to why some people's system work and others don't. Any news?

Have you installed the FCS 2 REDCODE Plugin? It's essentially the REDCODE RAW codec. If you don't have installed yet, you will get a white screen.

I had an issue with proxies not working on my mbp with 7.3.1. I redownloaded and reinstalled the codec, restarted and they can play fine now.
The first time I downloaded I had trouble extracting the installer on the mac pro at work, on my macbook pro it extracted fine but I guess the codec was still corrupt.

I have an older core 2 duo macbook pro with the x1600 gpu and have never had 7.4+ installed on it.

Thanks Jeremy. Didn't even think of that because I haven't installed Final Cut Pro yet, but that did it. I'm in business now. WooHoo!

I'm running under Mac OS X 10.5.2, Quicktime 7.4.1, Red Alert 1.5.6 and Red Cine 1.0.4 in MacBook.

Quicktime proxies, Final Cut Pro 6.0.2, Red Alert and Red Cine working properly.

I installed the redcode qt plugin (from the support area) on a tiger and leopard machines. I can see the pictures on the leopard machine but not on the tiger installation. (just see a white frame) Both systems are on QT 7.4.1 and intel cpu's. Does the red codec only work in leopard?

i'm just glad the proxies are viewable now.
I can view the proxies in QT (7.4.1) fine but I can't export to ProRes using the F proxie, only H. Just did a shoot that was mostly 4K with some high speed 2K, would like to convert all clips to 2K ProRes. When I try to export the F proxie I the picture shows up about 8 times and is different shades of green.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

i have quicktime 7.4.5, and fcp 6.0.3 and when i export i get a white screen that sometimes changes to different colors in the shape of the actual footage. The footage views fine in quicktime and fcp just wont export. i install the codec twice. It just wont export from the 2k proxies. :(
