I saw this new lens while surfing. With the conversion factor might this be
a good starting point for lenses, right before the 17 35 zoom?

Hi,

Very wide, I don't think you will use it very much.

Just my 2c.

But it's a "G" lens... doesn't that mean it has no aperture ring?

Yes its wide, but with the conversion factor it land about where the 17 35
does natively and with the conversion factor applied to that lens you get to
a wide enough lens for your wide shots then go to the 17 35 for alot of the shooting.

Hello wlaroussi,

I take it your interested in wide angle lenses. Here's a site to poke around on that you might find some answers at. You listed three lenses with different mounts that currently are not being offered on the RED camera, but perhaps some third party could fabricate a new front end (or two or three) for your camera. I'm sure you can find a review for just about any lens out there if you look around.

Thanks Chuck ,

What do you mean by "currently being offered on the RED camera" ? Are these lenses can be mounted directly on the red one using the nikon Mount or should i have to dig to find adaptor mounts for these ones . Thanks .

Rgards .

Wlaroussi,

From what I understand the RED camera is being introduced with the option of using either PL mounted lenses (52mm flange focal depth) or Nikon mount lenses (46.5mm ffd, I think).
So there is no way a Leica M mount (27.80mm) can be adapted to work with either of the above camera mounts and I'm pretty sure that goes for the other two also as they are to close to being the same ffd.
