Has anyone experienced this yet?

I get this often with build 14, it stops recording in the middle of a take and it says recording error rocket io (or something pretty close to that).

i switched from 4k 16:9 to 3k 16:9 and it seemed to go away. i cant be sure though, i was switching back and forth all day today, and it happened often. tomorow i go back to build 13.

Zak,

We got the same error while testing ramp. The warning could be replicated by ramping from 2fps up to 25fps with relative shutter engaged. Didn't test past that. Recording to Red Drive.

We also had like a stutter/lag using the Red LCD in 4k 16:9 @RC36. Fixed by going back RC28 and changing resolution/fps back and forth.

I had a weird issue tonight where my capture stopped and began playing a 2-sec loop of an action.. The camera had to be forced off

Just checking Zak, have you contacted support about this yet?

We saw the ROCKETIO error today, but it showed up on playback, not during shooting. We were shooting 3K Varispeed and when we switched to playback from Camera mode, the screen jumped a few times, and then it would not playback, giving the error message.

Also, once today, the Camera didn't boot when powered on, and the rear screen just displayed some strange pixels. After a couple minutes, we just cycled power, and it booted fine, but it was a bit strange.

The Matrix screen saver during the Black Shading calibration is cute.

I get rocketIOerror too with build 14. I also get monitor lag with RC36. I also get the strange pixels on boot sometimes. I wonder if I am restarting too quickly.

One other issue we noticed in build 14 is that the tiny Resolution Display on the LCD/Viewfinder reads incorrectly when in 3K mode... it still reads 4K.

(On the rear panel, the display reads correctly at 3K , it's just the LCD (monitor) output that is wrong. Most likely a simple oversight that will be fixed in the next build)

Anyone else seeing this?

I had the same problem using build 12 with CF-cards, changed cards, rebooted, left the camera off the power for about 30min (It happend when I was checking out at the rental company) and formatted the CF cards. Nothing helped. The rental company never saw this massege bevore.

I decided to reconfigure the camera (checked all my project settings), after I did that the camera worked fine, never had the problem again.

I had the same (only once yet) just after upgrading to build 14 (from 13). First time I've booted up with new build it shown the stange rear screen with pixel, but I didn't let the CF card (that contained the update build) in the slot, so I thought that was why, and powered down the cam, wait at least 15 seconds, insert the CF card, power up the cam again and no more problem.

It's cool that the error messages are telling us a little about what is inside the Red. Xilinx RocketIO sounds like a very powerful system for high-speed data transfer and serial output. Looks like it's upgradeable too!

I got the ROCKETIO a while back, with an older build. If memory serves, the fix was to re-set all the settings, as Sven & Rocketeer mentioned. I've also seen the "looping image" mentioned above (again with a much older build). Noted the details as best we could during the heat of production & forwarded them to Red - but it's an unfortunate reality that these sorts of transient malfunctions are tough to nail down. (And producers just *love* them.)

Anybody know which version of FPGA it is?

If you mean the your "Internal Mag" showed 4K 2:1 rather than 3K 2:1, yes that's a bug we need to address. It could do that if 4K 2:1 was the resolution that the CF was formatted at, even though 3K 2:1 is the resolution you are recording at.

I had the repeating 2 sec playback error with hire camera #466 on the weekend. Powering down and rebooting cleared it.

ROCKETIO problems today here also. 4k 2:1 Stopped recording in the middle of a take. Weird stuff. Press record and it starts up again. But it happened twice. Anybody figured out why yet?

Yes, the small icon on the lower part of the LCD or EVF that shows you your project resolution.

Good to hear you can duplicate the issue and that it will be addressed, thank you.

Hey guys,

Just had the ROCKETIO_ERROR on set a few minutes ago. Here are the specs:

Build #16
REDCODE36
Red Drive
4K 16x9

It seemed to work again after rebooting a few times. Is this just a bug that comes and goes?

Thanks.

had to support a collegue yesterday with the same fault.... the image on the lcd was flickering and when trying to record -> rocketio fault.
did flash new build 16 3.2.5 and reset all settings... after that the cam seems to run.... at the black shading process about at the half recorded frames same problem... rocketio fault. again same procedure and tried to do the black shading on cf as on hd same problem. always at the black shading procedure the fault came and the image was flickering.... when we switched on the color bars the image was stable.... cam went to service....

really a bad thing.....

We are facing ROCKETIO_ERROR on Build 16. When we try to playback, Camera restarts. I tried to record on CF Card and playback and it plays well. I'm facing the playback error on Red Drive. Tried couple of drives same issue, no playback on Red Drive.

Any help from Red Tech will be of great help. Posted to Red Tech support and waiting for their reply.
