i have only used redcine a few times and it appears there is a great deal of control over color once you get to know the controls

i am looking for precise control for black and white

similar to precise adjustment of 8 colors in the grayscale mix in camera raw for still images. other than grayscale mix, i would say blacks and curves are the next two most common things i use in camera raw when dealing with b&w.

perhaps all the control is already there in redcine and it is just a matter of documentation being available to understand all the controls.

i'm interested in creating striking black and white imagery in the most optimal way. thanks for listening.

Hi,

As far as color in REDCINE, what you see in the Color panel is what you get. : )

For B&W, try setting your Saturation to 0, and then playing with the different curve and exposure controls

Remember though that REDCINE is not meant to be a color tool for final finishing. If you want to add things like Optical Glow and Channel Blurs, which are fairly necessary for really good-looking B&W, you should take the final color correction to a package that is meant for that.

But REDCINE can certainly give you a rough idea of what your final B&W will look like... which is what it is really good at.
