Hi all. I have looked and searched this forum for hours but haven't found anything that will help me.
I am having problems with red cine running on my macbook (not pro) 10.4.11 intel GMA 950 graphics chipset. It all goes quite smoothly really I can load clips and even render quicktime files but the one thing it will not do is give me a realtime interpretation of my inputs when I try to color grade. The QT files that I make will have the grade on them but I cannot see what I am doing when tweking. I have downgraded from QT 7.4 to 7.31 as per the instructions here with pacifist and re installed redcine first af all with build 74 and then with build 82 and I still cant watch my grade happening. I will keep QT 7.3.1 for now but it didn't change anything for me when i downgraded.
Hope you can help.
Dave.

Dave,
Chances are that it's because you're using standard low-end mobo graphics. Does the screen go black when you try and grade something, or do you just not see anything?
Post a logfile to the Logfile sticky, please...

Thanks for the tips Lucas. I suspected that it might be the my graphics chip
but then why would Red Alert allow me to see the changes as I apply them and Red Cine not???
Red Alert will show me changes as I make them so I can do a rough grade in Alert but in Red Cine I can't see what I am Doing. Red Cine will allow me to export QT movies with the grade rendered into the QT movies where as Red Alert will not let me export any movies at all even though I can see what I am changing when grading.
The screen does not go black when I start color mode it never goes black unless I push the color button in the top left I can always see the footage and everything else in the software seems to work brilliantly.
Just to reiterate the grading changes are properly applied when I export a QT movie from Red Cine its just that I can't see the changes happening when I am making the grade.
I will post the log file now.
Cheers Dave.

pc----nvidia

Redcine is GPU based, i.e. it uses your graphics card processor to compute the color, etc... adjustments - which benefits speed.
RedAlert is purely CPU based, so it doesn't pay any attention to your graphics card.
No doubt, if you plan on using RedCine, you'll need to upgrade to a better graphics card. I can suggest any 7x or 8x series Nvidia GeForce - they work flawlessly on the PC side of things. For Mac the drivers are a bit of an issue, so the ATI cards seem to be the way to go.

Well that makes sense now, I wish I had the option of upgrading my graphics card but unfortunately I am using a macbook and I think thats impossible. ahh well looks like Red Alert is for me.
Thanks for the help.
