Good question since it may not be deposit this time considering the likely price of the accessories.
The other thing that concerns me is the acessories that are really part of the camera. Like the red drive, flash ram or whatever and the viewfinder.
I am less worried about the VAT now since i intend to start up a sole trader business and become vat registered and claim that back. But the import duty has still to be decided for overseas buyers. You can't claim the import duty back, so If the UK import duty on the camera is around 8-14% then by adding in two red drives and a viewfinder to the camera price the import duty could mount up!
This got me thinking again:innocent:
If we could separate the LCD possibly to be included for reservation holders, i hope, along with the other items mentioned, it could keep costs down.
What do others think. Has anyone in UK worked out the price of import duty (if any) for lenses, red rails and red drives? Is the camera been costed for import duty by custom and excise enquiry in UK....anyone?

I'm equally curious -- hopefully the ordering mechanism will not be reservation based, particularly with respect to the EVF and LCD. It would seem to make sense that regardless of when you place your order, the accessories ship only when your camera ships.
It would be challenging to have an early ship of the camera, but a late "lottery" number on the necessary accessories.
A lottery system for the RED lenses is not as burdensome, as you have immediate access to other PL mount lenses and/or 35 mm still lenses (assuming adapter plates are out). There is no comparable third party supplier yet of RED accessories.
Hopefully quantities of the accessories will ramp quickly and this wont be a problem.
Excited beyond belief that this is materializing.

What code did they give you in the end?
