The RED Camcorder is moving away from vaporware and moving towards a real product!
But camcorderinfo.com is the first place I heard about the RED ONE. It was last NAB and I saw this article: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Red-Announces-High-End-HD-Camcorder-for-$17500.htm
The way that some companies start, with outstanding, revolutionary products, always leads to mass skepticism. I knew it wasn't fake though when I read that Jim Jannard was on the team.
There are other companies that can make some high spec products. Such as Planet82 (Planet82's CCD sheds new light on night time photography) and the D-Wave Quantum computer (http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/11/nasa-backs-quantum-computing-demonstration/) without well known billionaires running the company. (Why'd I put D-Wave in there when their computer's built by NASA?)
