4K 16x9 Build 14 will not play back correctly in QT and Crashed Red Alet!

Anyone know whats up?

Probably the QT CODEC needs to be updated?

I'm pretty sure that Quicktime currently does not support 4k 16:9 at the moment

I just said the same thing and my post went away for some reason.

Nevermind I guess there are two of these floating around.

QT should not have to support it the proxies would be much less than 4K.

i would think Red alert would handle it though.

16X9 is only supported in Red Cine, which has been mentions dozens of times.

It did not come up in my search? Thanks for clearing this up. I am not a fan of Red Cine, i cant even figure out how to remove the files on the timeline, and I worked with Scratch for about a month on a Color Corecting Gig!
Does RED Cine export sound? I will give it a try now.

Thanks, Mark

No sound in Red Cine. These should all be supported very soon though.

Picture looks great! 16x9 4K with RED CINE, but sound is my problem now. I can open the QT proxies as long as there is only one R3D file, If there are 2 or more QT crashes! So I cant get sound from these longer takes. Anyone know how i can ge sound out of these files?

Thanks, Mark

use final cut or QT Pro and just export the audio

I mentioned this above but figure it is worth repeating,

I can open the QT proxies as long as there is only one R3D file, If there are 2 or more QT crashes, and so does FCP!
So I cant get sound from these longer takes.

QT 7.3.1
FCP 6.0.2

I found a fix for opening 16x9 files to get the sound off of them!

I went to my other computer that had Panther on it, some how Panther on this computer lets me choose between QT 7.4 or 7.3 (because i have an older OS with 7.3 on another HD in this same computer) I open the files with QT 7.3 and they open! I can get sound off of them!

one other note, there is no REDCODE CODEC installed on this computer and it in not an intell Mac, so ether one of these could have something to do with it.

My FCP editor is in the same situation. They recorded 4K 16:9 with audio. I hope they didn't record any long takes that required multiple R3D files!
